The truck and tire size above is a general guide based on the most common conditions, but everyone likes different things and therefore it is not a must but a guideline. The more you develop, the more you will want to customize your gear to your own preferences!
You should try to match the width of your skateboard trucks as closely as possible to the width of your skateboard, preferably within 5-6mm. Trucks that are too narrow will give you an unstable board and trucks that are too wide will impair your turning ability. Generally speaking, you don't want to see your wheels if you look straight down at your board from above!
