The helmet has, among other things, an EPS inner core and an ABS outer shell which in combination helps to prevent the force from being conducted to your head but can be absorbed all the better by the helmet.

Interchangeable pillows allow you to remove them yourself and put them in the washing machine when it's time to freshen them up a bit.
