Grip tape, grip or grip is what keeps your feet on the board when you maneuver it. There are many different types of grip tape and make to choose from. What to choose is hard to say but the type of resistance and grip is important for what to do with the board.

Today, most types of griptape you buy are perforated with small holes. It is worth gold when you mount the grip tape because you do not have to worry that there will be lots of air bubbles that can otherwise easily arise when inserting. So save yourself some work and make sure your next grip tape is perforated from start 🙂

The most common type of grip tape is similar to sandpaper and they are available in different grain sizes to give you exactly the grip you are looking for.

However, more and more alternatives have recently emerged on rubber grip tape, where you have put on a weak structure that means you do not actually have to wear your shoes, which is otherwise such a thing that is consumed quickly.

You can read more about the different types of griptape below.

Different types of grip tape

There are a number of different types of griptape to choose from. So what should you choose to believe?

Don't you always want extra good grip?

No, that is the short answer. For those who want to run a regular skateboard it is important that you can drag your feet on the grip to be able to do ollies and flips. If you have too much grip, this is almost impossible.

Standard Grip

The most common type of grip tape is clearly the black standard. This color and grain size (which may vary slightly depending on the manufacturer) is adapted for all-round skate and longboard.

Standard grip is for those who ride traditional skateboard or those who ride longboard all-round. However, for those who ride downhill or longboard with considerably tougher grips, sometimes this grip can be perceived as unreliable when the grip is pressed to the max.

Non Abrasive Grip / Rubber Grip

In recent years, however, a number of different alternatives have appeared on classic grip tape, where instead of sandpaper, you use a slightly patterned rubber that will save your shoes forever. This grip has been a very good alternative to regular skateboard grips where you pull your foot against the board to make ollies and flips and thus gladly eat up your shoes in different places. This grip has also proven to be perfect for those who are dancing / freestyle where you walk around a lot on the board or maybe even want to go barefoot.

Transparent grip

Transparent grip tape that we sell is usually of the same grain size as the black standard. It is more about an outdoor appearance aspect. Maybe you have a nice kind of wood on the top of the board that you want to show or you have glued a nice photo to your mom that you want to be seen every time you skate. Then a transparent grip is clearly a good solution.

Painted Grip

For those of you who want an extra clean look on the top of your board but still have a certain grip, there is actually grip that you lacquer. The most well-known brand is Lucid and through recycled glass has formed a grip that is super gorgeous. Maybe it sounds crazy to go barefoot on glass shards? But you can be calm the broken glass is carefully ground so that this is no danger.

Lacquered grip is therefore especially good for you who want to control how much grip you want on the different parts of the board or where you want to be able to improve it when you want.

Lacquered grip is perfect for those who want to cruise, dance or freestyle on the board where you move your feet a lot. Or you who want to go barefoot in the summer.

Extra Rough Grip

The extra coarse grip tape is most suitable for those who want to go much faster, as in the case of downhill or freeride where you are very engaged in sliding. In this case, it is crucial to have a grip that does not fail. Anyone who has helped your feet drop off the board when you are in the middle of a standing slide at a higher speed than you can run knows that this is a situation you should avoid if you can.

The rough grip tape wears a lot on your shoes but when you usually use it at freeride and downhill you do not move around your feet as much as you do for example cruising or dancing / freestyle. It is when you drag your feet on a grip tape that it wears off.

Rough grips are sometimes also sold as square sheets because some riders prefer to combine both standard grips and rough grips in different ways in order to choose which parts of the board you want different surfaces on.

Grip on finished or optional length

Some of our griptapes are sold via a roll where you can specify a desired length in decimeters while others are pre-cut. A convenient way not to buy too little or too much than what you need.
