TIPS FOR GOOD ALLROUND / FREERIDE BOARDS
A LITTLE GENERAL ABOUT ALLROUND / FREERIDE BOARDS
An all-round board is a board that should be good at everything, which is usually a bit difficult. Cruising and downhill are two riding styles that are opposites of each other, you could say. But freeride could be said to be between these. It usually involves being able to go down too few slopes. It does not necessarily have to go fast but it usually involves a large dose of technology. It is in this type of riding that sliding usually comes into the picture.

GENERAL ABOUT SLIDE WHEELS
Choosing the right wheel for sliding is a very crucial step. The shape, size, hardness and formula of the wheel are some of the things that affect how easily you can skid with the board. Many people think that you should always have a harder wheel to slip easily and of course the wheel releases more easily then, but in many cases the cord itself can be more difficult to control if you have a hard wheel. Therefore, instead try to take a smaller wheel, maybe around 65mm and which is softer (76-80a). A smaller wheel requires less force to start a slide, which may be suitable for those who are beginners and who may not lean so much into the turn or who ride at a lower speed. If you have a wheel that has rounded outer edges, you will also find it easier to start a slide compared to one that has an edge lip. Different asphalt can also be of great importance as well as the temperature of the asphalt that day. In order to best be ready for different types of conditions, it is a good tip to have 2-3 different types of slide wheels that you can switch between.
WHEELS FEATURES
- Hardness: A durometer of 74-80a is considered to be relatively soft. A lower duro means that the wheel grips more, but it will also have a different feedback in the slide. Think of it as an eraser on the tarmac versus a harder piece of plastic.
- Diameter: The size of the wheel also affects. A smaller wheel requires less force to start a slide on. This means that you can skid at a lower speed or use less power. For those of you who are learning, the technology may not be full yet and then we usually find it easier to learn the basics with a smaller wheel.
- Edge lip: The outer edges of the wheel can be rounded or straight / sharp. There is talk of the wheel's edge lip. A sharp edge receives and creates more grip / friction against the surface during a sharp turn compared to a rounded lip. For those of you who want a wheel that is easier to start a slide on, you should focus on a rounded lip.
- The formula: Different manufacturers may have slightly different types of material mix. In the past, it was usually harder wheels that would be used for sliding. Now we would like to say that many times it can be much nicer to have a softer wheel because the formula has changed. Brands such as Remember have a very easy-to-wear formula, which means that in their case it can be more comfortable to take a softer duro than you usually do to compensate.
